FAQs
1. Do I need to be home when you empty the septic tank?
No! As long as we have clear access to the tank and your gate isn’t locked, you don’t need to be home. We’ll take care of it and leave everything tidy.
2. How often should my septic tank be emptied?
Most tanks need emptying every 6 to 12 months, depending on the size of your household and how much the system is used. If you’re not sure what’s right for your property, we’re happy to advise. Better to do it regularly than deal with backups or smells.
3. Do I need a jet wash or just a standard empty?
A standard empty is fine for most tanks. But a jet wash is recommended once a year or so to keep things running smoothly, especially if there’s been a build-up, strong smells, or it’s been a while since the last clean. We’ll always let you know if it’s needed.
4. Do you offer septic tank servicing or just emptying?
Yes- we offer full servicing alongside regular emptying. That can include inspections, jet washing, checking soakaways and filters, and giving you advice on system health.
Regular servicing helps spot small issues before they become big, messy ones.
5. How big is my septic tank?
Tank sizes vary depending on the property. Most domestic tanks hold between 600 and 880 UK gallons. Don’t worry- we can tell once we’re on site and adjust accordingly.
6. How long is your hose?
Long enough to reach awkward tanks- over 80 metres!
Unless your tank is in another postcode, we’ll get to it.
And don’t worry, we can’t see your waste through the hose (people ask us that more than you’d think!).
7. Can you find the tank if I don’t know where it is?
Yes, we’re pretty good at tank hide-and-seek. If it’s accessible, we’ll locate it. If it’s buried deep, we might need a bit more time (or your garden plans).
8. Will it smell after you empty the tank?
You might notice a brief whiff, but it clears quickly. We always make sure lids are sealed properly, and the area is left clean.
9. What is a septic tank, exactly?
A septic tank is an underground system that collects and breaks down wastewater from your home. Solids settle at the bottom, and the liquid (effluent) flows out to a soakaway or drainage field.
10. Can you service commercial properties too?
